Mr. Srikesavan Sabapathy

He/him

Rehab and Clinical Lead Therapist

Elected Council Member — The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, UK

Elected Public Governor (Deputy Lead) — Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust

My short name is Sri. I am a physiotherapist by background, with diverse experience spanning academic teaching, administration, research, and clinical practice across India, Canada, and now the UK. In recent years, I have expanded my interests within the wider Allied Health Professional (AHP) space, and being competitively selected for the prestigious 2024–25 Chief AHP Officer's Clinical Fellowship at NHS England stands as the highlight of my professional career so far.

Other selected career positions include:

  • Academic and administrative head of two physiotherapy institutions in India
  • Research Assistant on multiple projects while studying in Canada
  • Major Trauma inpatient physiotherapist at a large UK teaching hospital
  • Commissioning experience within an NHS Integrated Care Board

I am deeply passionate about volunteering, finding both personal fulfilment and invaluable transferable skills through the following roles:

Elected Public Governor, NHS Foundation Trust 2022 – 2025
Elected Council Member, Chartered Society of Physiotherapists 2022 – 2026
Deputy Chair, BAME Strategic Advisory Group, NHS England 2023 – 2024

Additionally, I provide peer support and pastoral care to internationally trained Allied Health Professionals transitioning into the UK workforce. This experience inspired me to join the founding leadership team of BIAHPA.

My Indian heritage is central to my identity, shaped by the resilience of my grandparents, who left India to work as indentured labourers on Sri Lankan tea plantations. Their struggles, along with my parents' determination to escape harsh conditions and create a better future for us, gave me the privilege of becoming the first in my family to attend university.

Every time I sip a cup of tea or face life's challenges, I reflect on their journeys for strength and inspiration.
