Course Lead, MSc Dietetics and Nutrition — London Metropolitan University
I'm a registered dietitian with nearly two decades of experience spanning NHS clinical practice, higher education, and digital health. I currently work as the Course Lead for the MSc Dietetics and Nutrition programme, where I lead on curriculum design, student support, and quality standards for the next generation of dietitians entering the profession.
Equality, diversity and inclusion sit at the centre of my professional life. I chair the British Dietetic Association's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, drawing on my own career across hospital, digital health, and academic settings. I'm also EDI Lead for the School of Human Sciences at London Metropolitan University, where I work to embed inclusive practice into how we teach, assess, and support our very diverse student body.
My aspiration is to keep widening access and supporting successful careers into the allied health professions, particularly dietetics, for people from South Asian and other underrepresented backgrounds, and to use platforms like the British Indian AHP network to build the kind of peer support and visibility I didn't always have early in my own career.
Born and raised in Leamington Spa, I come from a Punjabi heritage — my parents migrated from Punjab, India, which has deeply shaped my identity and values. A big part of my Punjabi culture, as well as food and music, is community. The community is a vital ingredient in creating a sense of belonging with comfortability. This is what excites me about BIAHPA and the potential for collaboration and community building. I am a proud mum to four children, so family life is busy juggling everything else alongside, but we are a household that leans on each other.
