Bhavna Mehta

She/her

Orthotist — Buchanan Orthotics

My name is Bhavna Mehta (known as Bea). I am an Orthotist, currently working for Buchanan Orthotics and covering clinics for NHS Fife, Scotland.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is at the heart of what I do. In my professional career, I am a part of the EDI focus group for the British Association for Prosthetists and Orthotists (BAPO). I also have served my community in the East Renfrewshire Faith Forum, alongside my mother, who is a true inspiration, as part of Interfaith Scotland. Within my time as Paediatric Specialist Orthotist in Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Liverpool, I have had the privilege to represent as a member of the NHS England North-West AHP Ethnic Diversity Strategic Advisory Group.

I was born and raised in Glasgow, and I am proud of my Scottish Indian heritage. I have been very fortunate to be able to keep Indian traditions and celebrate festivals within the community in Scotland: performing Bollywood and Semi-classical dance at various international events. I am excited to be a part of an initiative that enables a community and environment to listen and support AHPs of Indian origin in the UK.
